Deadlock over moving state primary prevails

House Election Laws Committee Chairman Ross Berry, R-Manchester, failed to convince his House colleagues to endorse a Senate-passed bill to move the state primary election from September to June. The House overwhelmingly has voted for a separate measure to move the primary up three weeks into August.

The state primary is set for the second Tuesday in September, which is Sept. 10 this year.
