A motorcyclist died and another was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Mammoth Road in Pelham Thursday evening — the second fatal crash on that road in two days.
The victim was not identified by authorities.
First responders were called to the scene of a crash near 700 Mammoth Road shortly before 7 p.m. and found two motorcycles and a car involved, according to a news release.
One rider was ejected from their bike and pronounced dead at the scene. A second was taken to Lowell General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, officials said.
Police said the other vehicle involved in the crash had stopped in the southbound lane, just south of the motorcycles. The two people inside it were uninjured.
The crash led to closure of Mammoth Road between Tenney and Jeremy Hill roads.
Just a day earlier, the same road was closed for hours for another fatal crash. A Pelham woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when her Chevrolet Avalanche struck a large tree in the area of 970 Mammoth Road, and burst into flames.
The driver, identified as Krystale Barnaby, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said she died upon impact.
Hudson Police Department’s Technical Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the Thursday crash. Police are asking anyone who witnessed what happened to contact Capt. Stephen Toom at 603-635-2411.
